{"id":11008,"date":"2026-06-13T18:03:46","date_gmt":"2026-06-13T18:03:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobhouse.ca\/jobboards\/?post_type=job_listing&#038;p=11008"},"modified":"2026-06-15T17:44:36","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T17:44:36","slug":"mdc-media-group-inc-33-horner-avenue-toronto-2-editor","status":"publish","type":"job_listing","link":"https:\/\/jobhouse.ca\/jobboards\/job\/mdc-media-group-inc-33-horner-avenue-toronto-2-editor\/","title":{"rendered":"Editor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We are currently seeking a qualified <strong>Editor (NOC 51110)<\/strong> to coordinate our editorial operations across multiple media platforms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The successful candidate will:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Evaluate suitability of material for publication, broadcast or Internet and print media<\/li>\n<li>Review, edit, and approve content for accuracy, clarity, style, grammar, and adherence to editorial standards.<\/li>\n<li>Make decisions on the significance of copy and determine what what content will be published or broadcast<\/li>\n<li>Plan layout or format of copy according to space or time allocations<\/li>\n<li>Publish text for distribution for magazine and newspaper<\/li>\n<li>Detect and correct errors in spelling, grammar and syntax<\/li>\n<li>Shorten or lengthen copy<\/li>\n<li>Plan coverage of upcoming events and assign work accordingly<\/li>\n<li>Confer with authors, staff writers, reporters and others regarding revisions to copy<\/li>\n<li>Plan and co-ordinate activities of staff and assure production deadlines are met<\/li>\n<li>Write or prepare and present introductions, marketing and promotional materials, bibliographic references, indexes and other text<\/li>\n<li>Review programs and policies to ensure conformance with regulations<\/li>\n<li>Plan and maintain production schedules<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with authors, composers, producers and directors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>At least five (5) years of experience in editorial roles within television, radio, print, digital media, or a combination thereof.<\/li>\n<li>Able to perform the duties of this position<\/li>\n<li>Strong editorial judgment and decision-making skills.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills.<\/li>\n<li>Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency with Microsoft Word, email systems, and other standard office software.<\/li>\n<li>Post-secondary training in related field is an asset<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Language Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Portuguese (advanced written and oral proficiency) \u2014 required, as the majority of editorial content produced, reviewed, and published by the organization is in Portuguese and serves the Portuguese-speaking community.<\/p>\n<p>English<\/p>\n<p><strong>Supervision<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The position involves the supervision of approximately 10 employees working across various editorial, production, and media functions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Employment Details<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Permanent, full-time position<br \/>\n40 hours per week<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wage:<\/strong> $36.55 per hour<\/p>\n<p><strong>Work Location<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>309 Horner Avenue<br \/>\nToronto, ON M8W 1Z5<\/p>\n<p>Work is primarily performed on-site.
