Job Description:<\/p>\n
Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items<\/p>\n
Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory<\/p>\n
Analyze operating costs and other data<\/p>\n
Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff<\/p>\n
Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers<\/p>\n
Create new recipes<\/p>\n
Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food<\/p>\n
Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets<\/p>\n
Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods<\/p>\n
Requisition food and kitchen supplies<\/p>\n
Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs<\/p>\n
Consult with clients regarding weddings, banquets and specialty functions<\/p>\n
Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards<\/p>\n
Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances<\/p>\n
Recruit and hire staff<\/p>\n
Supervise activities of sous-chefs, specialist chefs, chefs and cooks<\/p>\n

Requirements<\/p>\n
Education: Completion of high school is required<\/p>\n
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a cook is required. In the event that the candidate does not have 5 years of experience then equivalent credentials, training OR cook\u2019s trade certificate is required.<\/p>\n
Supervisory experience in commercial food preparation as a sous-chef, specialist chef or chef is required.<\/p>\n
Knowledge of Mexican cuisine is required due to the nature of the business.<\/p>\n
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure, Physically demanding, Attention to detail, Standing for extended periods<\/p>\n

Ability to supervise at least 3-5 workers.<\/p>\n

Salary: 36 CAD hourly. 40 hours per week.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Important Information: Flexibility in schedule is required. The employee will work 8 hours per day, 5 days per week. Shifts will typically be scheduled between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. Day, evening, weekend and holiday shifts may be required.<\/p>\n
Overtime may be required during busy periods, weekends, and special events.<\/p>\n
