Purchasing Manager

Overview

Urla Fine Foods Inc., located at 77 Samor Rd, Unit 1, Toronto, ON, M6A 1J2, seeks a full-time (30 hours per week) permanent purchasing manager.  Wage $60.10 hourly.  Duties include:

• Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the purchasing activities of Urla Fine Foods, including sourcing and purchasing authentic Turkish grocery products directly from suppliers and manufacturers in Turkey
• Develop purchasing policies and procedures and control purchasing department budget
• Identify Turkish vendors of grocery products and other kitchen/food supplies
• Evaluate cost and quality of Turkish grocery and other kitchen/food supplies, ensuring highest quality products are sourced
• Negotiate purchase contracts with Turkish suppliers overseas, ensuring an in-depth understanding of the Turkish market and suppliers
• Participate in the development of specifications for Turkish grocery products, including assessing what Turkish grocery products are in demand to adjust purchasing strategies
• Work closely with the kitchen production department to ensure they receive the appropriate food/kitchen supplies, especially seasonal or specialty Turkish products essential for prepared foods.
• Review and process claims against suppliers, both in Turkey and in Canada
• Interview, hire and oversee training of staff

A bachelor degree/college diploma in business administration, commerce, economics or a similar field is required. Two to three years of experience working as a purchasing agent/officer is required.
