Apprentice Flat Roofer

Overview

Top-Line Roofing & Sheet Metal Inc. is currently hiring APPRENTICE FLAT ROOFERS.

Responsibilities

• Install built-up roofing systems using materials such as asphalt saturated felts and hot asphalt and gravel
• Install single-ply roofing system using waterproof sheet materials, such as modified plastics, elastomeric or other asphaltic compositions
• Repair or replace single-ply roofing systems
• Repair roofing systems
• Apply waterproof coatings to concrete or other masonry surfaces below or above ground level
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively during installation and repair tasks.
• Follow instructions of foremen/women and journey persons

Requirements/Qualifications:

• At least one year of ICI (institutional, commercial and industrial) roofing experience
• Ability to adhere to company safety policies
• Availability for overtime and some weekend hours
• Reliable team play with excellent physical stamina
• Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate and Fall Arrest Protection Training Course (training provided)

Hours and Wages:

This is a unionized position through Union Local 30; if hired, all candidates will be required to become a member (if not already). Applicable medical, dental and pension benefits as per union’s collective agreement after probationary period.

Rates of pay depend on previous work experience

2nd year: $36.00 per hour

3rd year: $40.43 per hour

This is a full-time position – between 30 and 44 hours per week – throughout the year.

Work sites are across Greater Toronto Area and southwestern Ontario.
