Harbourfront Centre is seeking individuals to join Marine Services Crew for the 2019 Season.

Harbourfront’s Sailing and Power boating operation is a well-established sailing club with a large membership base, conveniently located downtown in Toronto, south of the Rogers Centre and CN Tower. The clubhouse boasts access to over 90 sail and power craft, ranging from 7′ to 36′ in length and includes 11 International J24’s and 17 powerboats up to 26 feet. The club is dedicated to delivering excellence in boating instruction as well as making boating accessible to Toronto residents and visitors through instruction, membership and rental programs.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to keep up with public demand, and provide competent marine maintenance service crew duties. To ensure the club clients have a positive experience we are looking for customer orientated people who enjoy engaging with the public, take pride in their working environment and can provide good judgement with regard to safety.
FULL-TIME SEASONAL POSITIONS AVAILABLE
The Marine maintenance Service Crew primary responsibility is to look after the rental fleet – including by limited to the general cleanliness, minor boat repairs, and to perform dockhand duties. The applicant should be flexible with hours and weekends, willing to help out wherever needed, comfortable working outside and committed to delivering high levels of customer service to members and the general public.
JOB BRIEF
· Ensuring that boats are prepared and fully operational for departure, so that customers may benefit from a safe and enjoyable boating experience.
· Conduct daily boat checks and monitoring the fleet’s condition, and performing the necessary repairs to keep boats in operation and ready for use.
· Liaise with office staff each morning around fleet availability for customers.
· Perform opening and/or closing duties, and conduct fuel runs to local filling station with company vehicle.
· Must be flexible – willing to work a varied schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays
· Candidates will be working outside, near water, and will often be exposed to sunlight. They will need to be able to protect themselves from the elements. These positions can also be physically demanding and candidates must be able bodied.
Required Skills:
· Required valid driver’s license
· Must be over 18 years of age
· Hold a valid Toronto Harbour Licence and Pleasure Craft Operators Card (we will assist with this)
- Basic experience in boating
- Basic swimming skills
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Demonstrates initiative and the ability to solve problems
- Able to follow standard procedures as set out by management
- Available to work from April 10th until October 2019
· International candidates must have, or be in the process of gaining, a valid Canadian work permit
· Successful applicant will need to provide an updated police background check
This role is ideal for anyone who enjoys working outdoors, and wishing to develop sailing and power boat ability; you’ll pick up numerous transferable skills for your resume.
