Fire Alarm Technician (Fully Licensed)
Job Description
EPI Fire Protection is currently seeking a Certified and Fully Licensed Fire Alarm Technician to join our team in North York, Ontario.
This role involves installing, inspecting, testing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems, life safety systems, fire suppression systems, and related electronic equipment in residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
The successful candidate must have experience performing medium to large annual inspections on multi-node and networked fire alarm systems and demonstrate strong technical ability, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
Main Job Duties (Alarm Technician)
The Fire Alarm Technician will be responsible for the following duties:
Install, maintain and repair household and business electronic equipment, such as fire alarms and their related components and peripherals
Inspect and test electronic equipment, components and assemblies using multimeters, circuit testers, oscilloscopes, logic probes and other electronic test instruments, tools and equipment
Diagnose and locate circuit, component and equipment faults
Adjust, align, replace or repair electronic equipment, assemblies and components following equipment manuals and schematics, and using soldering tools and other hand and power tools
Complete work orders, test and maintenance reports
May be required to supervise other fire alarm equipment service technicians
Experience Requirements
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Fire Alarm Technician or in a closely related role
Experience performing medium to large annual inspections, including multi-node and networked systems
Knowledge of fire suppression systems and fire safety equipment
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, drawings, and blueprints
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Education Requirements
Completion of a two to three year college program in electronics, OR
Completion of a four-year apprenticeship program in electronic servicing and repair
Certifications & Licensing Requirements
Applicants must have:
Certification and full licensing as a Fire Alarm Technician (as required by provincial regulations)
Certification or formal training in fire safety systems
Any additional related certifications, including but not limited to:
Working at Heights
WHMIS
Other relevant safety or technical certifications
Beneficial Skills (Assets)
Certifications in fire suppression systems or advanced life safety systems
Background in the construction or building industry
