Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Completion of caregiving, home support, or personal support worker training is required
Experience:
1 year to less than 2 years
Experience caring for seniors or individuals with medical and dietary support needs is required

Responsibilities / Tasks
- Provide care and companionship for elderly individuals during periods of illness, recovery, or reduced mobility
- Assist clients with personal hygiene, bathing, dressing, grooming, and ambulation
- Provide bedside and personal care assistance
- Plan and prepare meals and special diets
- Assist clients with feeding where required
- Assist with medication routines under the direction of family members and healthcare professionals
- Observe and report changes in emotional, physical, or behavioral conditions
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and communicate with healthcare providers or family members when necessary
- Assist clients with mobility support and daily living activities
- Accompany clients to medical appointments, hospital visits, and community outings
- Assist clients with light physical activities such as walking
- Maintain a safe and supportive household environment
- Perform light housekeeping duties including laundry, dishwashing, bed making, and maintaining cleanliness of living areas
- Shop for groceries and household necessities when required
Credentials – Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses:
- Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate or equivalent caregiver training
- GPA (Gentle Persuasive Approaches) training certificate for dementia care
- CPR Certificate – required
- First Aid Certificate – required
- Food Handlers Certificate
- Dietician Certificate
- Vulnerable Sector Check (current within last 12 months)
- Up to date immunization record (including 2-step TB testing)
Transportation/travel information
- Valid driver’s licence is required
