COSTI REQUIRES AN EMPLOYMENT FACILITATOR FOR ITS YOUTH SERVICES PROGRAM AT CALEDONIA EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

COSTI Caledonia Employment Services offers Employment Ontario Youth Services including summer programs to assist Youth aged 15-29 transition between school and work.

This is a Union contract position scheduled to work 35 hours per week. **
(Current incumbent is on Secondment)

DUTIES

• Conducts an initial client Needs Assessment to determine service eligibility requirement(s) or referrals to other community services.
• Registers clients and records services provided in various databases including CIS and CAMs.
• Facilitates structured job search, life skills/job readiness, job retention and LMI workshops for youth.
• Instructs Youth on resume development and self-marketing strategies, effective interview skills and the use of other job search tools/techniques such as websites & social media.
• Provides feedback on Youth resumes, cover letters, employment solicitation, follow up & thank you letters
• Recruits employers for job fairs and other events; invites guest speakers to present on relevant work search topics / strategies and employer hiring expectations.
• Prepares and facilitates access to online workshops in areas related to employment/pre-employment and training courses.
• E-facilitates on-line groups as required/scheduled & uses on-line resources & methods to supplement regular programming
• Provides technical and professional Customer Service support to all clients using Centre services.
• Maintains daily workshop attendance, evaluates & records clients’ participation and records these observations in clients’ files.
• Obtains and interprets the results of in-depth career and employment assessments for Youth using formal assessment tools or external testing resources to assist clients in developing their Employment Action Plans and/or preparing them for placement opportunities.
• Assists Youth to identify, outreach & market themselves to employers, relevant career exploration and developmental skills training services.
• Works with youth service team to discuss client’s employment action plans, job opportunities and need for non-employment services and education/skills training.
• Researches, and maintains updated materials/links relevant to employment, education and skills training.
• Conducts outreach activities to employers, community service providers, schools, libraries, regulatory bodies to promote program, obtain resource material and prospective job leads.
• Assists in developing paid employment placements for youth in various occupations
• Compile statistics both electronically and in hardcopies using designated forms and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Social Service Worker Diploma or equivalent with relevant practicum experience.
• Minimum twelve (12) months group facilitation and employment counselling experience with youth at risk.
• Strong marketing background with experience placing youth at risk in paid employment.
• Preference will be given to those with demonstrated experience providing e-facilitation via distance learning.
• Experience in developing placements for Youth in various occupations.
• Knowledge of the current labour market and industry trends.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to work in a team
• Excellent knowledge of community agencies and resources.
• Level B Certification in Career Assessment tools is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of current computer packages: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Email, Internet.
• Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as required.
• Access to a car is an asset.

**Hours of work shall be scheduled in accordance with Article 12.01and shall consist of five (5) seven (7) hour days, Monday to Friday.

LOCATION: 2301 Keele Street Unit 102, Toronto
DURATION: January 2, 2019 to July 28, 2019
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $45,475 to 48,944 per annum + Benefits
