Overview
The General Manager of the language and skills training services is responsible for overseeing the management and operations of multi-service, multi-partner operations of the Toronto and Peel Region Education Division programs.
This is a non-Union full-time position scheduled to work 35 hours per week.
DUTIES
· Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with the community, partners, funders and other service providers
· Monitors the delivery of Toronto and Peel Language & Skills services in accordance with agency contractual obligations
· Responsible for monitoring and controlling a budget of close to $4,000,000
· Coordinates planning and developing new programs, as well as evaluating and improving existing programs to ensure the quality of services meets established objectives
· Develops and monitors budget expenditures; prepares statistical and service reports
· Researches, develops & prepares grant proposals for the government & other funding sources
· Holds the regular team and individual meetings with the Centre Managers
· Ensures all organizational timelines are met (e.g. grant applications, monthly and quarterly reports, budgetary reviews, performance appraisals)
· Participates in division management team meetings, organizational meetings and external community commitments and takes on tasks and leadership roles as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
· University degree or equivalent (e.g., BSW, MSW, B.Ed., M.Ed. or degree in Immigrant Services) and a minimum of four years’ experience in a Social Service environment
· Minimum 3 years of experience in staff supervision, administration, financial management and marketing
· Knowledge of adult education principles and expertise in adult education services
· Working knowledge of the LINC and ELT program, Canadian Language Benchmarks, and Portfolio-based Language Assessment (PBLA) practices
· Well-developed organizational, analytical, financial management and decision-making skills
· Proven experience in partnership development and management
· Demonstrated ability to liaise with community organizations
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and to be effective at both leading and participating in a collaborative team setting
· Experience in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) is an asset
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
· Knowledge of and sensitivity to the multicultural community
· Management experience in a unionized environment is an asset
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet and e-mail

SALARY RANGE: $68,770 to $79,069 per annum + benefits
