Caribbean Ethnic Food Cook

Employer: Indra’s Caribbean Delight

Indra’s Caribbean Delight is looking for a full-time cook for our location at Unit #1 – 18 Robb Blvd. Orangeville, Ontario L9W 3L2. The Cook must know how to prepare and cook Caribbean ethnic food – complete bulk meals; prepare dishes for enterprises that supply food without food allergies or intolerance, individual Caribbean dishes and sauces, including, but not limited to dhal puri, roti, chicken curry, duck curry, beef curry, goat curry, pine tart, Chinese cake, cheese roll, tennis roll, salara, mithai, jalebi, fried channa, phoulorie, chutneys, etc.; prepare and cook special bulk meals as instructed by chef for stores, restaurants and catered orders; must have knowledge of cooking different kinds of specialty Caribbean foods such as different curries and vegetarian dishes.

Must know how to plan menus, ensure quality of food and determine size of food proportions per package. Should be able to modify ingredients of a particular dish as per enterprise requirement, work with minimal supervision, estimate food requirements and costs, keep track of and order supplies, maintain inventory of food and supplies, inspect kitchens and food service areas, keep the kitchen and other work area clean, and work with specialized cooking equipment (deep fryer, automatic baking machines, dough mixing machines, dough flattening machine, dhal grinder, etc.) and manage kitchen operations.

Working conditions and capabilities: Standing for extended periods, fast-paced environment, work under pressure, repetitive tasks, attention to details, team player, organized and reliable.

Terms of Employment: Permanent; Full time

Wages: $23.15 per hour for 40 hours per week
